Howdy ya'll...
Nothing much has been going on around here except the usual things that happen around Christmas. Like stress. Well we did sell our old house today. That was a HUGE load off our minds. Apparently the housing market sucks and we are lucky to have sold it so quickly because the appraisal value of the house went down $5,000 in just the past 7 months! It was a little awkward at the closing with Hubby's ex girlfriend being the buyer but I handled it with the grace that I am famous for (HA!) and everything went smoothly.
We are having the family over for Christmas on Sunday afternoon because C-man goes to his mothers house from Christmas Eve until the 6th of January. It will be really quiet without him here for those weeks. T-man got his first job starting tonight at the local grocery store so Hubby and I will have a lot of alone time, I guess. That will be nice.
The city got audited this past week. It was a harrowing nerve racking three days. And they were auditing from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007. I wasn't even in office during any of that time so it was a nightmare trying to answer all the questions of what and why things were done. Apparently the past two clerks (they had two in one year and this position is a six year term!) weren't doing so good. I think I heard the auditors say a couple of times "Didn't that woman know how to count?!!!" when speaking of one of them. The other one was an embezzler so of course there were a lot of missing documents and questions I just couldn't answer.
Oh yeah, and on top of it all the water dept. head quit and gave the city 5 days notice. His last day was today. This city I live in has a total of 10 city employees of which I and the utilities clerk are two of them and 5 of them are police officers. That leaves 3 city employees who do streets and water. One of those is almost 70 yrs old and works part time and the other was just hired less than two months ago. So the guy who resigned has been there 7 years and is the only one who knows how to run the water plant for our town. God help us if the plant goes down before we can get someone else trained.
Well it's getting late and i'm getting tired. Tomorrow I VOW I will spent the morning reading all your blogs and commenting on everyone! If by the end of the day I have missed your blog comment here and tell me to get my ass over there!! I am only visiting those I see on my sidebar so if you're not there yet comment me and tell me to add you!

Are you new here or have you been reading awhile and never left a comment? Please introduce yourself! Lurking is so lonely, we want to meet you!

Everybody gets stressed at this time Squirrel. I read one woman plans to escape from it all by cheecking into a spa for five days over Christmas.
Have a wonderful Christmas!

Maybe you should issue a boil water advisory . . . just in case this employee who just left had a grudge or something.
Hope the holidays are happy for you there. Certainly selling your house has to help make it so.

P.S. Regarding your comment on my blog, I discovered that I screwed up. It's glogg, not glog. In case you still wanted to Google my Xmas drink.

Stopping by to say hello and hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I am ready to say goodbye to 2007 and ready to embrace 2008! I had enough of this damn year.
Take care.
